Celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year

From famous Foshan Lion Dancers to lantern making, we’re bringing good fortune to Meadowhall 2025!

The Lunar Chinese New Year 2025 welcomes the Year of the Snake, which symbolises wisdom and transformation, is set to offer opportunities and personal growth for change this new year. To celebrate, we’re working with Sheffield Lunar Chinese New Year and the Confucius Institute at The University of Sheffield to help raise funds for The Children’s Hospitals Charity, with a month full of Lunar Celebration activities!

Lantern Making Workshop

Get creative this Chinese New Year with our free traditional Chinese lantern-making workshop! A symbol of hope, joy and new beginnings, the lanterns can be displayed at Meadowhall or taken home as a keepsake. The event is free and open to all ages, and whilst no bookings are required, we highly encourage donations to The Children’s Hospital Charity. Find us on The Sessions Stand, outside River Island.
