Red Shoe Walk
Meadowhall hosted the very first Red Shoe Walk on Sunday 3rd August, and can proudly announce that over £10,000 was raised for the Dementia Fund at Sheffield Hospitals Charity, our 2025 charity partner of the year.
Participants turned up in mass donning red shoes, and all partakers received a Red Shoe Walk T-shirt which granted them exclusive discounts in the shops on the day.
The colour red is one of the most prevalent colours for Dementia patients. Red can increase brainwave activity and can be more visible for those at later stages of the condition, so it was important to Sheffield Hospital’s Charity that the event followed a red theme.
Over 400 people took part in the 3km walk around the shopping centre which started at the Summer Beach Club. Ahead of the walk, the crowd received warm up from Gladiators finalist Bronte Jones, the team at PureGym, and fellow red shoe bearer, Sonic the Hedgehog.
Local celebrity, and Sheffield Hospitals Charity ambassador, Tony Christie also took to the stage with his hit song Is This the Way to Amarillo, to get the walkers ready and marching. The Amarillo singer lives with Dementia so his appearance at the Red Shoe Walk was extra special.
