Meadowhall partners with local school to bury time capsule

Meadowhall continued its 35th anniversary celebrations with the burial of a time capsule, containing some of 2025’s most popular items.

Pupils from local primary school Limpsfield Juniors hand selected their favourite items of the year to bury in the capsule. This included the viral Stanley Cup, Dubai style pistachio chocolates, and a super soft and cuddly Squishmallow! Alongside the toys and notable items, the children buried handwritten letters to their future selves, full of their predictions for the world in 2060.

The National Literacy trust also donated some of the children’s favourite books to be buried alongside their chosen items. Top titles included Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Rhold Dahl and Dog Man by Dav Pilkey.

The capsule will be locked away for 35 years before being dug up in the year 2060.
